One of my big regrets is that I didn’t know how important looking after my animals’ teeth was. I certainly never brushed them, and they never had dentals either. When both my cats were diagnosed with CRF at ages 15 and 16, it was a real wakeup call.

I don’t know that the state of their teeth contributed to their CRF, although I’m sure that it didn’t help. I have friends who got their cats regular dentals, and their elderly cats still ended up with CRF.

But at least now I’m aware that taking care of our animals’ teeth is just as important as taking care of our own.

Actually, brushing their teeth isn’t very hard. I use the CET poultry-flavored toothpaste, and my 2 cats & 1 dog love it — they’d happily line up for seconds, in fact!
