Munich revisited: Attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team will isolate Pakistan like never before

Crossfire and the blame game
As per views of Punjab Governor Salman Tahseer, the terrorists who attacked the Sri Lankan Cricket Team were highly equipped with rockets, grenades, AK’s and trained. He puts the attack in the same light as the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and stresses on the fact that the same terrorists were involved. However, the point I want to stress here is the question asked by a journalist to Mr. Tahseer that whether this terror attack was India’s response to the deadly 26/11. So, now, Pakistan has an excuse, which can be clearly figured out by the conclusion and perception of the already crippled press. Minister of state for shipping Nabil Ahmed Gabol too boldly stated that India is behind the attacks. He has gone as far as saying, while talking to Geo News, that the terrorists came from India. It simply means the worse is yet to come.

Demi-Gods attacked - The LTTE link
Another issue that needs focus is the involvement of LTTE in the attacks. The entire sub-continent worships cricketers and the attack is a blot on the stature. This is an assault on the sporting spirit of the world. It is beyond any comprehension why Sri Lanka had to tour a country at war, when India already pulled itself off. Apparently, Sri Lanka wanted to prove, on the behest of reviving Cricket in the region, that they are closer to Pakistan than India. And one cannot deny this fact, especially in the light of the Vaiko fiasco and Sri Lankan government’s apathy towards Indian opinion with respect to LTTE as a whole. Tamil rebels’ involvement cannot be denied.

Dark Days
Perhaps, “The darkest day in the history of Pakistan cricket” has become a slogan in the country. Woolmer’s death was labeled “the darkest day in the history of Pak cricket”; Shoaib Akhtar and Asif drug scandal was termed as “the darkest day in the history of Pak cricket”; and this day too is pitched the same. No doubt, the attacks have put Cricket World Cup 2011 in jeopardy. Shariat augurs more chaos, or is it already here?

This is a very sad day for cricket in general. Especially considering that Sri-Lankan team agreed to play because India pulled out due to security issues. Also this could mean the end of international cricket in Pakistan for some time.

First when Srilanka anounced that they were going to come to pakistan there was major opposition from india..they really got pissed , but they still came.

And after this Jayawardne , still said that his team doesn't regret the visit they made , as they purely came to help Pakistan to improve its reputation.

I don't know if it helps being a Pakistani i would like to apologize to all the Srilankan team and people.

We are sensible people and we don't blame India for what happened as they did after Mumbai incident. But there IS somebody who wants to destroy Pakistan's image. GOD BLESS PAKISTAN !

Pakistan has been counting on cricket to make them some revenue, guess that is going to get hurt now too as more teams would not want to tour there anymore due to security concerns.

Hope the SL players recover soon

When there was an attack in Mumbai all Indians did show solidarity, But we Indians never even thought to skip the Srilanka tour when the country is in war & a minority community in SriLanka getting killed. “A genocide war”.

Indian media just want to make money of that Indian cricket & didn’t had any courtesy to raise the issue.

Remember the Mumbai attack led to complete cancellation of crickets tours in India.

But Indian cricket players and the Indian cricket board did not even had a corner humanity on their souls,

You know what, what happened today to SL team should have been happend to Indian team (As Dhoni itself gets relieved),
because they were knew that the tour they had with Srilanka was unjustified.

Now, SL team has paid the price for it.
This is just the beginning for all international cricket teams , who just mind money than the real sportiness of Cricket. The media just biased on the revenues generated from the game.

Talking about the Pakistan attack on Players, can we guess what could be the reason the terrorist need to attack SL players?
What SL doing is a genocide like the Israel doing it aginst Gaza population.

Can not we say, these countries are itself based on extremism,a terrorism or a separatism. As a country , a country should respect the rights of minorities and give them the freedom.

Kashmir is the main issue, why we are facing all kind of attacks, leave the Kashmir and there will be no attacks in India.

It is good that no SL players died, but not an excuse, cricket should take a new approach, else this kind of events are not going to stop.

IPL too makes people crazy about the results then the actual game. If that also continues, there is possibility that these issues will become a war in coming years, until the game is
played as a game.
Too much of cricket driving media & people crazy, it is just played for money & gambling, “Paisa dalo, paisa leloo”.

IPL is a money and gambling, not the actual cricket how it was known to be.

How many of you agree Indian Cricket is after all
“Paisa Dalo Paisa Lelo” ?
