Simply sensational to know the master’s thoughts. I am amazed that you got him to talk so much.
Great interview, I read it over and over again. Roni has put to rest some of the stereotypes associated with tattooing and tattoos.
Well done Vikas! We’d like to know more about Roni’s work in the future. Keep us updated.
Cheers!

Zulu is not only a great artist but a great human as well. i love my ink and have one of the coolest pieces ever done, an all white piece. more importantly i sent my son to him to get his first tattoo. Zulu’s spirituality plays a big part in his vision. keep up the the beautiful work Zulu, you add to the good things in the world.
I am A big fan and canvas of Roni Zulu. I enjoyed this blog alot not only because I love his work and what he stands for, but because I know in my heart that the living art I am blessed to carry around with me was created by someone that truly appreciates those whom he works on.
Thanks for my ink, i cant wait to finish my cypher.

When you walk into the Zulu tattoo office the greeting is warm and you’re treated like a good friend.
I would not trade my Zulu tattoo’s for anything. The tree and hands (pictured above) still amazes me to this day. When I first told Zulu about the idea he perked up with such excitement. ”Ooohh lets do Celtic roots” he said.... I was utterly shocked because I hadn’t told him anything about my heritage roots yet.
That is just one of many facets of Zulu’s vision and creativity.
I am proud to be a member of the Zulu tribe!

I live in Winnipeg,Mb. (Canada). I received beautiful work at Zulu, with pride I show it off. They placed something from my heart on my shoulder, how many people can do that. Wonderful artists that use their heart. I will travel to LA just to go to Zulu. I also have to mention the beautiful lady there who made all the arrangements, it was not easy. A Canadian member of the Zulu tribe. Thankyou is just not enough.
Zulu is probably known mostly for doing ”large” work but, I was so glad that he as able to do a small cover-up piece for me. The design and size was perfect for my upper arm. I pondered over 10 years on how to do my cover up backing off each time I thought I had/found a solution. Once I found Zulu, I knew I found the RIGHT person. His shop is very warm and inviting and this is the only shop I’ve been in where I felt comfortable. Never second-guessed Zulu the moment I met him. Let’s say I am very glad I backed off for those 10 years!

Zulu...is a wonderfully talented artist. I have know Zulu & Khani-Jo for many years. I had always had an idea for a back piece, an asymmetrical heart made up of tropical flowers. A year ago January I knew it was time...Zulu and I sat down and I shared my idea. Zulu picked up on what I was thinking and infused it with his keen sense of color and balance. Now over a year later I posses
an amazing work of art.

To know Zulu is to know a great master teacher. When the Gods brought him next door to my Salon and he opened Zulu Tatoo, they also brought two important Family members that were missing Him and Khani-Jo.It is an honor to know them both and an honor to carry the sacred marks he has blessed me with.To know him is a gift to be marked by him is a privilege.

I had first heard of Zulu through another client of his, many years ago. When I finally had my markings in mind, I made the appointment to meet. It was the most wonderful experience I have ever had. He understood exactly what I was trying to convey. His artwork was more than what I had imagined. Even more, the actual piece is amazing beyond any concept I had. I am also proud to carry this one-of-a-kind masterpiece around my ankle and to be a member of the tribe.

I was in LA last month (March) and got inked by Lantz; he did an amazing dragon on my arm. I had the pleasure of also meeting Zulu himself and his lovely wife Khani Jo - they made me feel totally comfortable and at ”home” in their shop. Next time I’m on the West Coast, I’ll be going back for more!

I first met Roni In 1994. He has been tattooing me and my family ever since. Zulu is truly one of a kind. I am truly privileged to have met him and have been able to work with him all these years.
Roni has been my Shaman since Dwyer introduced us in the 90’s. Presently he is working with me on a commorative piece for my father’s death. He is a man of this earth, an intellect, an artist and I cry because the way he makes me free from some of the pains that have constituted my life. A true friend.

Zulu is a great friend and Brother. I’m proud that gave me my first tattoo. The quality of the tattoo comes from the quality of the Man. Zulu, Kahni, and Lanz are awesome and I am looking forward to my next shoulder piece.
