After a lot of mulling over this dangerous idea introduced by Zeroc, we finally decided to share it with you hoping that you’ll read the whole concept and its implications first before trying your hands on it; believe me, its pretty dangerous.

More likely than not, the power source will determine the strength of the bomb. For a simple, close range (”Grenade”) like weapon, use a battery such as a D-Cell or appropriate Lithium equivilent (Since Lithium Batteries give out more energy). If you are looking for an emitter, a generator that can power a house would likely be your best bet.
Oh, and expect the device to be one-time use. There is a high probabliity that it will detonate and ruin its converters.

i think for the wire u will need a pura copper wire and instead of steel i think a pure iron rod would be better.
and u will want to cover the steel/iron in a non conductive cover (e.g. plastic).
also the power suply will probly have to be a verry large DC supply.
note: an EMP does not nesiseraly produse an explosion as such (unless you are using a Neutron bomb or nuclear device, which you can purchase from your local Black market arms dealer! X̃), and not anything that is visable… so dont expect a matrix type thing going on.

Silver is a much better conductor than copper, if the government builds one then you can bet it will be made from silver!

Sooo.....
how does it work?
is it once you put in the battery it goes off? or.. do you put in a switch somewhere? or is it timed?

You need a special switch. It needs to switch hundreds of thousands of volts into a short circuit! The ”in” and ”out” will arc to each other before you even close it if you don’t design it correctly!
You will probably die if you don’t know what you are doing.

Now I have made an EMP before and let me tell you this: this is just a simple magnet. LMAO for those of you who attempt this you will be sorrily disappointed. first of all you need you have a high energy pulser which acts like a transformer though with a frquency knob and a modulator. You need to have roughly 8.4 kV for anything to happen and you need to have a parabolic directional device so that you create a remotly concentrated pulse. If you do decide to make one bear in mind it will cost about 300-500 US dollars, and if you are caught with one you will be charged and put in prison since it is classified as a High-Security Weapon
you are all talking pish!! none of you know about EMP!!! for a start, using a ’D’ cell battery and what is essentially an electomagnet, something found in every electric motor and indeed inside CRT’s? I don’t think so. Why not read about EMP before putting such shite on these websites?

assuming we could get our hands on a nuke to make a ”real” emp, how would we go about aiming it?

Hi, I would like to Know More About this Like for example the voltage we are talking about what type of switch dose it ned and energy source. Also if any body made it already I would like to see a video of it.
Or if possible a more detailed sketch.
Wait your comment or answer .

If you try to video this then you will destroy your video camera! The tape may survive (you can’t use solid state memory, that too will go). At the point when the contacts close the recording will stop.

I work with high voltages for a living, I create EMPs several times a day to ensure that equipment can withstand the pulses. I have destroyed a few calculators and a digital camera by leaving them too close to the test area! The diagram is rubbish! You WILL need very big capacitors but you will not need a coil as you will automically have one turn anyway! The source to charge the capacitors may have to be a bit bigger than a single ”D” cell and the voltage needs stepping up with an invertor. All you need to do is short out the charge all at once with an improvised high voltage relay (solenoid in oil, upside down sealed coffee jar!). If you are stupid enough to do this then your mobile phone will not work afterwards!
