Can Iran be trusted on its civil nuclear program?

Major world powers are offering Iran a new package of incentives to freeze its nuclear activities. All kinds of sanctions and incentives have already failed to persuade Iran to roll back its uranium enrichment program and apparently, it has now become a source of national pride. World powers suspect that Iran is using its civil nuclear program as a cover to develop nuclear weapons. Should we believe that Iran’s uranium enrichment program is solely to produce energy?

OK, you asked 'Can Iran be trusted on its civil nuclear program?' let me ask you another question- Can Pakistan be trusted on its civil nuclear program? No country can trust another nation on the question of nuclear program. If Pakistan can have the capacity, why not Iran?

is there any reason why not? stop playing the politics and saluting the big brother in his every rights and wrongs. this argument is rubbish and please don't support with the logic that it poses a threat to the Peace.. if US and above all IAEA is that much bothered about the nuclear proliferation then, why no such move has been take in Syrian case. US reveled Syrian nuclear reactor only to pressurize North korea to buckle down and no substantial action has been taken to stop syria.. why this double standard???

I really don't make it out or see any reason why Iran shouldn't be trusted or stop its nuclear program??? When all energy sources are drying world over, the nuclear grid remains the solution. so does that mean in the paucity of energy sources nuclear energy will be the prorogation of those a few who've already got the expertise. we should not forget that only one nation, that makes hullabaloo on nuclear proliferation now, has ever used a nuclear device. do they want to make it sure that next time they will be again the one to use it?

NO. there is no reason to trust the hardliners in Iran. their nuclear program is more to have a nuclear expertise than for the save energy sources. iran has got enough of oil and natural gas. so there is hardly a suppressed need for the nuclear energy, that too when it is looking for IPI gas deal.

Secondly, the recurrent irania threat to wipe israel out of the map is another example that scenario will be aghast in MiddleEast if iran successfully pursues nuclear technology.

Furthermore, if iran will be allowed to have the nuclear technology, others in the combustible region will do the same and that will start a never ending nuclear race. that is why to stop iran is the need of the hour!!!

WE just can't trust Iran. The behavior of Iran's ultraconservative President has made clear that Iran cannot be trusted with technology that could give it nuclear weapons. A nuclear armed Iran would destabilize the middle-east region, initiate a regional arms race. The arms race would damage the scarce resources in the region. AND I am surprised to see Richard's comment in favor of Iran.

Iran is strongly in favour of producing nuclear fuel for domestic and long-term economic reason. It doesn't matter for Iran that the US and it's allies cannot trust Iran's intentions. We are in need of nuclear energy and we would not stop the nuclear program because it is meant for peaceful purpose.

iran should not have the nuclear weapons and there are more than one reasons for that coz those who are promoting and exporting the terrorism should be barred from having WMDs. the rogue states should not be trusted and james if you argue in favor of Iran then you are not seeing the long term consequences. we just protecting ourselves coz we don't want to witness 9/11 again. but painfully obvious iran will lie through and through and will hardly give up its nuclear program. the only solution for the problem is the unity against iran or destroy their capability.

If Israel can be trusted, if Pakistan can be trusted, if India can be trusted and above all if USA can be trusted with nuclear bombs despite having a history of nuking Japan and close to nuking China and India then why can not Iran be trusted?

Guys who support terrorists blowing themselves up or crashing on buildings can never ever be trusted with dangerous technology. If Iran gets weapons grade fissile material then not only the region but the whole world will be endangered. Iran will then go out of control.

Pakistan showed that once it got the tech knowhow to build bombs passed it to rogue countries. This time we are not talking about a modern Islamic society as Pakistan but a theocratic state run by radical clerics. It will be dangerous to believe that Iran's nuclear ambitions are peaceful. Hence, NO WAY!

It will be like trusting a mad guy threatening to burn his neighbour's house down with a box of matches and gas as he says he wants to cook. Iran can never ever be trusted with such technology simply because it is lying about its real intention, which is to build a bomb and blackmail Israel and the U.S.

Iranians are very responsible people. They don't like to fight wars directly. They fight it through terror groups only like Hezbollah. I don't think they will use the bomb themselves. I would rather reckon the Iranians to pass it to one of these groups to do the needful.
